Simple future tense จะใช้อธิบายให้ทราบถึงส่ิ่งที่จะเกิดขึ้นในเวลาหลังจากตอนนี้ และใช้เพื่ออธิบายข้อเท็จจริงหรือความแน่นอน ในกรณีนี้ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับ 'ทัศนคติ'

เราจะใช้ simple future tense เพื่อ

คาดการณ์สิ่งที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต:
It will rain tomorrow.
หากใช้ร่วมกับ I หรือ We จะบอกให้ทราบถึงการตัดสินใจที่เกิดขึ้นเอง:
I'll pay for the tickets by credit card.
อธิบายสิ่งที่ตั้งใจอยากทำ:
I'll do the washing-up.
He'll carry your bag for you.
หากใช้ในรูปปฏิเสธ จะอธิบายให้ทราบถึงสิ่งที่ไม่อยากทำ:
The baby won't eat his soup.
I won't leave until I've seen the manager!
ในประโยคคำถามจะใช้ "shall" กับประธาน I เพื่อใช้บอกให้คนอื่นทราบว่า เรากำลังให้ข้อเสนออะไร:
Shall I open the window?
ในประโยคคำถามจะใช้ "shall" กับประธาน we เพื่อเป็นการแนะนำให้ทำบางสิ่งบางอย่าง:
Shall we go to the cinema tonight?
ในประโยคคำถามจะใช้ "shall" กับประธาน I เพื่อขอคำแนะนำ:
What shall I tell the boss about this money?
ใช้กับ you เพื่อให้คำแนะนำ:
You will do exactly as I say.
ในประโยคคำถาม ใช้ร่วมกับ you เพื่อเชิญชวนเขาทำอะไรบางอย่าง:
Will you come to the dance with me?
Will you marry me?

หมายเหตุ: ในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษแบบปัจจุบัน will จะเป็นที่นิยมใช้มากกว่า shall โดยทั่วไปแล้ว shall จะใช้คู่ I และ we เป็นหลักเพื่อให้หรือขอคำแนะนำ รวมไปถึงการให้ข้อเสนอบางอย่าง (ดูตัวอย่างด้านบน) เมื่อใช้กับคำสรรพนามอื่น ๆ (you, he, she, they) shall จะใช้เพื่อในเชิงวรรณศิลป์เท่านั้น เช่น "With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, She shall have music wherever she goes."

การสร้าง simple future tense

Simple future tense ประกอบไปด้วย 2 ส่วน ได้แก่ will / shall + กริยาช่อง 1 ที่ไม่ต้องใช้ร่วมกัน to

ประธาน	will	กริยาช่อง 1 ที่ไม่ต้องใช้ร่วมกัน to
ประโยคบอกเล่า
I	will	go
I	shall	go
ประโยคปฏิเสธ
They	will not	see
They	won't	see
ประโยคคำถาม
Will	she	ask?
ประโยคคำถามเชิงปฏิเสธ
Won't	they	try?

การผสมคำสรรพนามกับคำกริยา (contractions)

I will = I'll
We will = we'll
You will = you'll
He will = he'll
She will = she'll
They will = they'll
Will not = won't

แต่ "it will" จะไม่นิยมย่อให้สั้นลง
