รูปแบบ

ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 สามารถใช้รูป -ing ของ present conditional ได้

If clause (สาเหตุ/เงื่อนไข)	Main clause (ผลที่เกิดขึ้น)
If + simple past	present continuous conditional
If this thing happened	that thing would be happening.

หน้าที่

รูปแบบของประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 ในลักษณะนี้จะใช้เพื่ออธิบาย สิ่งที่ยังไม่เสร็จสิ้นหรือยังคงเกิดอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นผลมาจากเงื่อนไขที่ไม่จริง

ตัวอย่างเช่น

I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (แต่เพราะฉันพูดภาษาอิตาเลี่ยนไม่ได้ ดังนั้น ฉันก็เลยไม่ได้ทำงานในอิตาลี)
She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (แต่เพราะเธออยู่กับแจ๊ค เธอก็เลยไม่ได้อยู่กับพ่อแม่ของเธอ)
You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (แต่คุณยิ้มเพราะคุณไม่รู้ความจริง)

present continuous conditional tense

คำกริยาของ present continuous conditional tense ประกอบไปด้วย 3 ส่วน ได้แก่

would + be + กริยา +ing (present participle)

Past participle จะอยู่ในรูปกริยา +ing

ประธาน	+ would	+ be	+ กริยา+ing (present participle)
He	would	be	staying
They	would	be	going
