ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 สามารถใช้รูป -ing ของ present conditional ได้

รูปแบบของประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 ในลักษณะนี้จะใช้เพื่ออธิบาย สิ่งที่ยังไม่เสร็จสิ้นหรือยังคงเกิดอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นผลมาจากเงื่อนไขที่ไม่จริง
ตัวอย่างเช่น
- I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (แต่เพราะฉันพูดภาษาอิตาเลี่ยนไม่ได้ ดังนั้น ฉันก็เลยไม่ได้ทำงานในอิตาลี)
- She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (แต่เพราะเธออยู่กับแจ๊ค เธอก็เลยไม่ได้อยู่กับพ่อแม่ของเธอ)
- You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (แต่คุณยิ้มเพราะคุณไม่รู้ความจริง)
present continuous conditional tense
คำกริยาของ present continuous conditional tense ประกอบไปด้วย 3 ส่วน ได้แก่
would + be + กริยา +ing (present participle)
Past participle จะอยู่ในรูปกริยา +ing
